The 7th session of the Committee on Fisheries and Peace Line was held at three p.m. on December 12th. Minister Yiu attended the session as Acting Chief member in the absence of Delegate Chang. Next meeting would be held at 11 a.m. on December 19th.
Our side stated at this meeting that the Japanese list of the provisional Japan-Korea Agreement on Fisheries as submitted at t he 5th session on November 28th was too far from the Korean position, and, therefore, the said Japanese proposal was not acceptable,
Our side accordingly requested the Japanese side that latter would consider the submittance of a new proposal which would be closer to the Korean position and be acceptable to us. Japanese side said that, if the Korean side was not satisfied with the said Japanese proposal which "had been submitted for the second time after every consideration", it wished the Korean side to submit a counter proposal on this matter so that the difference between the Japanese proposal and the Korean position could be clarified.
Our side stated in this regard that the Japanese wish would be conveyed to delegate Chang upon his return from Seoul, and further that as to the difference between the Japanese proposal and the Korean position, it could be well verified by an instance that the Japanese proposed area for prohibition of dragnet fishing was even narrower than the same prohibition area as set forth about thirty years ago.
