ROK ENVOY RAPS JAPANESE TALK WITH REDSFRANCONIA
Dr.You Chan Yang, ambassador to this country from the Republic of Korea, said Tuesday night that although Japan recognised the ROK as "the sovereign goverment of all Korea," it still is negotiating with Communist North Korea on the question of repatriating Korean formerly held in Japan.
He was interviewed by Editorial Writer James J, Finnegan of the MANCHESTER UNION LEADER as part of "Sounding Board", an ABC radio series moderated by Christopher King, Stockton, Calif, College professor.
The program will be heard on all ABC stations west of the Mississippi and independent stations is the east on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Chen reminded his listeners - guests at the Forest Hills Hotel - that Japan had "solemnly signed at agreement on Dec. 31, 1957 staging that the question of repatriation of Koreans in Japan would be settled at the conference table.
But he said that Japan has not taken "unilateral action in negotiating with the Red puppets of North Korea. ; rather than to pay compensation.
He also noted the action of the Japanese in supplying North Korea with "additional mampower with which to fight new wars."
The action, he said, "is a slip in the face of the United States and the 16 UN nations which fought with the United States in Korea."
A question period followed.
