Dear Mr. President:
I would like to acknowledge with gratitude the receipt of Your Excellency's letter No.486 dated June 5, 1958. I will bear in mind Your Excellency's guidance contained in the said letter in conducting the negotiations with the Japanese side in future.
The first session of the Sub-committee on Vessels (under the Committee on Korean Claims) was held on June 6, 1958. At this meeting, our side proposed to confirm the agenda items of the Sub-committee as follows:
1) Return of vessels of Korean registry,
2) Return to Korea of vessels located in Korean waters on or since August 9, 1945.
We also proposed, in accordance with the Government instructions, that the agenda items 2) above be taken up only after a complete settlement of the agenda item 1).
The Japanese side in reply stated that it would study our proposal and give its view at the next meeting. It was then agreed that the next meeting of the Sub-committee be held on June 11 (Wednesday).
