TEXT OF THE JOINT PRESS RELEASE ON THE 13TH PLENARY SESSION

August 26, 1959

The 13th plenary session was held at 3:15 p.m. on August 26, at the Japanese Foreign Ministry,
At this meeting, the Japanese side agreed to adopt as agenda items of the committee on Legal Status of Korean Residents in Japan the three problems as proposed by the Korean side at the previous plenary session.
It was further agreed that the meeting of the Committee on Legal Status of Korean Residents in Japan would be held on Monday, August 31, 1959 and that plenary sessions would be held from time to time when necessary.
The Korean Chief delegate introduced Dr. Chin-O YU as the Korean chief member of the Legal Status Committee.
1) (1) The problem on those Koreans who choose to settle in Japan,
(2) The problem on those Koreans who choose to be repatriated to the Republic of Korea,
(3) The problem on those Koreans who would neither reside in Japan nor be repatriated to the Republic of Korea, if there be any such Koreans.
