Report of the Basic Relations Committee to the Fourth Plenary Session

The Basic Relations Committee, which was established as a sub-committee for the discussion of the first item of the agenda, “establishment of the basic relationship between the two countries, including diplomatic relation”, upon the decision made at the Third Plenary Session, held six sessions until March 22nd.
Of these sessions, at the First, Second and Third Session, explanations and questions and answers were made on the Draft Treaty of Amity between Japan and the Republic of Korea presented by the Japanese side, and at the Fourth and Fifth Session, on the Draft Basic Treaty between the Republic of Korea and Japan presented by the Korean side as a corresponding draft.
Since views of both sides have generally been clarified through these discussions, both sides started to draft cooperatively a joint Draft Treaty at the Sixth Session, adjusting the drafts of both sides.
