We have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 26 December 1957 for which we thank you.
The International Committee of the Red Cross was extremely pleased to learn that an agreement had been concluded on 31 December 1957 between the Governments of the Republic of Korea and Japan and that the interned Koreans and Japanese to whom we had ventured to call the attention of the detaining authorities were going to be released.
The International Committee of the Red Cross sincerely hopes that the arrangements thus made will be carried out in the very near future, so that the released internees are enabled to return to their homes in accordance with Resolution No XIX of the International Red Cross Conference in New Delhi.
