(Record No.21)
Record of the Proceedings of the Committee on Vessels
The 28th meeting of the "Committee on Vessels" was held on 5 February, 1952 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japanese Government.
In regard to the additional list (22 vessels) in respect to agenda (a) presented by the Korean side, the Japanese side gave the following explanation:
(A) Onyo Maru
Sanyo Maru
These two vessels were requisited by the former Japanese Amy immediately after their construction in July, 1945, and therefore they are not the Korean-registered ones.
(B) Senkai Maru No.25 (present Senkai Maru No.12)
According to the statement by Mr. T. Oka of Shimonoseki, the Senkai Maru No.25 and the Senkai Maru No 12 are not the same vessel. He added that he had never owned the Senkai Maru No.25, and that he had sold the Senkai Maru No.12 to the General Air Ordnance Bureau in the Japanese home land in and around spring of 1945.
Seiun Maru (present Kaiun Maru)
Daishin Maru
No informations are available up to date concerning these two vessels.
(C) As regards the vessels other than those referred to in (A) and (8) above (all sunken), official reports from the former Japanese Army and Navy, etc. proving their sinking or total loss and copies of applications for abandonment of insured vessels have been presented.
However, so far as the vessels owned by the former Nishi Nippon Kisen K. K. are concerned, such documents are unavailable, for the company which had had its head office in Pusan burnt out them immediately before its evacuation to Japan.
Next, the Japanese side requested the Korean side to present data relative to the fact that the five vessels referred to in agenda (c) were delivered on loan to Korea.
