THE AMENDMENTS PROPOSAL SUBMITTED BY THE KOREAN SIDE
1. With regard to the Note Verbale to be sent by the Japanese Foreign Ministry to the Korean Mission regarding the withdrawal of the Kubota Statement and of the Japanese property claims:
The Note Verbale shall be made out in English only.
2. With regard to the Memorandum on the detainee issue:
a. The title of the Memorandum is to be amended as follows:
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN REGARDING MEASURES ON KOREANS DETAINED IN JAPAN AND ON JAPANESE FISHERMEN DETAINED IN KOREA". (The existing title : "MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN REGARDING MEASURES ON JAPANESE FISHERMEN DETAINED IN KOREA AND ON KOREAN RESIDENTS IN JAPAN DETAINED UNDER DEPORTATION ORDER")
b. On the first paragraph of the Memorandum:
In the clause "who are being detained at the Aliens Detention Camps in Japan under deportation order", the words "under deportation orders" should be deleted.
3. With regard to the Annexed Understanding:
a. The words "criteria" should be amended as "arrangements".
b. The words "for the purpose of deportation" should be deleted.
c. After deletion of the clause "and who violated criminal laws and regulations of Japan", the phrase "to keep them in the Aliens Detention Camps" should be added to the end of the first sentence of the Annexed Unterstanding.
4. With regard to the Agreed Minutes:
a. In paragraph one Article 1, the words "on Korean residents in Japan detained under deportation orders" should be substituted by the words "on Koreans detained in Japan".
b. In paragraph one of Article 3, the words "at the first, second and third conferences. should be substituted by the words "at the first, second and third Korea-Japan Conferences".
5. With regard to the Oral Statement on Art Objects:
a. The phrase "aside from the agenda of the overall talks between Japan and the Republic of Korea" should be deleted.
b. The clause", and for the later transfer of other Korean art objects discussion and settlement will be made at the overall talks" should be added immediately after the clause "of which the immediate transfer is possible."
