Record of the Proceeding of the Committee on Vessels
The 25th meeting of the "Committee on Vessels" was held on January 19, 1952 at the Japanese Ministry of Transportation office, and the 20th meeting, on January 22 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office.
An explanation was made about the foundations for demands as summitted by the both sides at the meetings held by the end of last year, and lists of vessels as demanded by either of them were presented. After that, in order to reach a conclusion at this meeting, it was agreed to confirm every fact, first of all, at the coming meetings.
Next,in respect of the 54 vessels included in the additional lists of fishing vessels related to agenda(a), which had been submitted by the Korean side,a report was made by the Japanese side on the result of investigations conducted by it while in recess.
Also was a report made by the Korean side on the result of investigations conducted by it in connection with the list of fishing vessels related to agenda(d),which had been submitted by the other side.
In connection with the explanation next made by the Japanese side to the effect that vessels included in the additional list of merchant vessels (22 vessels) related to agenda(a) sank, excepting eight vessels, prior to August 9, 1945 and they were disposed of as total loss, the Korean side requested the Japanese side to furnish a more detailed explanation proving such facts by record, document etc.
Lastly, the evidence data for merchant vessels(41 vessels)and fishing vessels(6 vessels) related to agenda(b) were submitted by the Korean side.
