Summary Record of the Fifth Plenary Session

 

1. Date, time and place:
April 4th (Friday), 1952 14:05 hours-15:30 hours
At Room No. 419, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. Conferees:
Mr. S. Matsumoto,, Chief Delegate, and six others of the Japanese Delegation and Dr. Y.C. Yang, Chief Delegate, and eleven others of the Korean Delegation were present.
3. Proceedings:
(1) Reports of the sub-committees to this Plenary Session on their proceedings were presented as per ANNEX I, II and III.
(2) The Korean Chief Delegate read a statement on his point of view, which was reciprocated by an address of the Japanese Chief Delegate, as per ANNEX IV and V, respectively.
(3) Chief Delegates of both countries agreed to continue discussions of this Conference, in one way or another, through sub-committee meetings and informal talks, to find out the ways and means of satisfactory settlements.
(4) Unless otherwise decided, the next Plenary Session is scheduled to be held on next Friday (April 11th) from 14:00 hours, at the same conference room.
(5) According to the Japanese Chief Delegate’s words, which he stated in connection to the Korean Chief Delegate’s statement, a document entitled “VIEWS OF JAPANESE DELEGATION ON LEGAL ARGUMENTS CONTAINED IN STATEMENT OF AMBASSADOR YANG DATED APRIL 4, 1952”, as per ANNEX VI, was forwarded to the Korean Delegation.
