3. Gist of Talks:
Mr. Awasawa:
Mr. Takano told me that he had an informal meeting with Mr. Choi in accordance with the decision reached at the last session in connection with the problem of attaching the proviso, as of November 6, 1951, to the proposed agenda item (d), and, further, that no significant result was attained therefrom.
.....I am of the opinion that we might as well ask them to continue their informal talks on the issue.
Mr. Lee:
I have no objection if the Japanese side so desires
Mr. Awasawa:
If the Korean side wants to make any other suggestion in this regard, I would be glad to hear it,
Mr. Lee:
The Korean side, for its part, hopes that the Japanese side will reconsider the Korean proposal with more sincerity.
Mr. Awasaawa:
The Japanese side has also introduced its idea in connection with the proposed agenda item (d). Therefore, the best way for ironing out differences of positions is to maks mutual concessions in this regard.
Mr. Lee:
The Korean side has over and again studied the Japanese proposal, but it still maintains the view that the most reasonable thing to do at this Subcommittee is to go along with the Korean proposal.
Mr. Awasawa:
I believe that Mr. Takano and Mr. Choi will take pains at seeking for an amicable settlement of this issue. And, shall we put an end to today's meeting ?
Mr. Lee:
No objection. When shall we hold next meeting ?
Mr. Awasawa:
I wonder if the 5th of August is inconvenient to the Korean side.
Mr. Lee:
That will be all right with the Korean side. And time ?
Mr. Awasawa:
I suggest 10:30 in the morning.
Mr. Lee:
No objection. And, regarding press release, let us follow the same way as we did at previous sessions.
Mr. Awasawa:
No objection.
