3. Gist of Talks:
Mr. Takano:
I received a telephone call from Mr. Awasawa that he was so sick that he would not to able to attend today a meeting of this Subcommittee. So, if the Korean side has any particular opninion on the proceeding of today's session, I would be glad to hear it.
Mr. Lee:
I wonder if you have any idea as to the proceeding of today's meeting.
Mr. Takano:
The Japanese side does not entertain any idea other than that expressed at previous sessions. So, if the Korean side has any, I would rather like to hear it.
Mr. Lee:
At the last meeting, we repeated our discussions in connection with the proposal made by the Korean side that the proviso reading "as of November 6, 1951" be attached to the proposed agenda item (d). However, having failed to reach any agreement on it at the meeting, both sides decided that the mtter be taken up at an informal meeting between Mr. Choi and Mr. TakaNo.After he had conferred with Mr. Takano, Mr. Choi reported to me that they could not reach any notable conclusion at the said meeting. Now, I would like to hear if the Japanese side mapped out any way of solution to the matter thereafter.
Mr. Takano:
I intended to make a report at this Subcommittee on the outcome of the meeting between Mr. Choi and myself. However. I had been unable to make a report on the discussions to Mr. Awasawa because of his absence.
Mr. Lee:
Did you study the problem thereafter ?
Mr. Takano:
No, not particularly.
Mr. Lee:
You have told me that you more unable to report the outcome of the discussions, between Mr. choi and yourself, to Mr. Awasawa because of his illness, Does it mean that you did not say anything to Mr. Awasawa about the meeting ?
Mr. Takano:
I just talked to him about our discussions through telephone without touching on them in detail.
Mr. Lee:
Do you have any ides on the proceeding of today's meeting ?
Mr. Takano:
As Mr. Awasawa is absent, today, I don't think we can get down to the discussions of substantial matters. Therefore, I want to suggest that we postpone our meeting untill such time as Mr. Awasawa would be able to show up at this Subcommittee.
Mr. Lee:
No objection.
Mr. Takano:
I propose that our next meeting be held on 29th July.
Mr. Lee:
No objection. And Time?
Mr. Takano:
10:30 in the morning?
Mr. Lee:
No.objection. And any suggestion as to press release ?
Mr. Takano:
Let us follow the same method we employed at previous meeting.
Mr. Lee:
That will do.
