PRESS RELEASETHE Second Plenary Session of the Preliminary Talks for the Fifth Korea-Japan Overall Talks
The second plenary session of the Preliminary Talks for the Fifth Korea-Japan Overall Talks was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at 11:00 a.m. on November 2, 1960.
At the outset of this meeting, the Chief Delegate of the Korean side expressed his deep regret and disappointment regarding the extension of the validity of the so-called Calcutta Agreement.
It was agreed that the relevant procedural matters for the talks would be the same as in the previous talks.
It was further agreed that the following committees and sub-committees would be established:
1. Committee on Basic Relations
2. Committee on Korean Claims
a. Sub-committee on Claims
b. Sub-committee on Vessels
c. Sub-committee on Art Objects
3. Committee on Fisheries and "Peace Line"
4. Committee on Legal Status of Korean Residents in Japan;
and that the Committees would enter into discussions early next week.
