I had the honor to despatch to your Lordship this day at 5.30 P.M. the following telegram in cypher:

“Your Despatch No. 116 – Recommend despatch of Aston in a man-of-war now in Japan to Korea for the purpose.
“If unsuccessful would still obtain valuable information as to state of affairs Parkes.”
