Re item 1 of your cable. the Japanese side will give "assurance" at the same time and date of the signing of the Agreed Minutes and the releasing of the joint Communique on the residents issue.

Also, in this connection, I together with Dr. Chin O Yu will meet Asian Affairs Director Iseki at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon and will report on the meeting immediately thereafter.
