Resumption of the overall talks with Japan.
Item 1. As I reported previously, in accordance with the Government cable instruction FTB-004, I told Mr. Itagaki that since Minister Yiu is expected to return to Tokyo on January 26th, The Legal States Committee Meeting scheduled to be held on January 26th will be postponed to a later date and the future proceeding of the overall talks will be discussed on between Minister Yin and Mr. Sawada in following morning (January 27th).
Now, in case Minister Yin's return to Tokyo is delayed for another few days, it is deemed appropriate for us to inform the Japanese side of the effect, within January 26th, stating that various Committee meetings originally scheduled to be resumed on and after January 27th will also be postponed to later dates pending the Minister's return here and that the future proceedings of the talks will be discussed on return here.
Item 2. Early cable instruction in this regard would be appreciated.
