FROM : Vice-Foreign Minister
SUBJECT : Recommandation on Minister Yiu's trip to Seoul for consultation
By his cable to the Office of the President and this Ministry, Minister Tai Ha Yiu recommended that he make a trip to Seoul for consultation with this Ministry and our delegates to the Korea -Japan Conference so that we may work out a strategy for our negotiation at the forthcoming talks which are scheduled to be resumed from January 26, 1959.
The Ministry considers it advisable to permit Minister Yiu to make a trip to Seoul at this time for consultation regarding the Korea-Japan talks. The Ministry further considers that it will be helpful for the Ministry receive to Minister Yiu's report, in person, on the recent development of the Japanese politic with which our negotiation with them has close connection.
If Your Excellency approve the above-mentioned recommendation, the Ministry will instruct Minister Yiu to return home on Monday, January 19, 1959.
