THE FOURTH KOREA-JAPAN OVERALL TALKS
1. Time and place: From 3:10 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. on May 6, 1958, at Room 311 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japanese Government
2. Conferees:
The Korean side : Same as in the previous session
The Japanese side : Same as in the previous session
3. Gist of talks:
DR. SAWADA:
Shall we confirm the summary record of the fifth plenary session?
(Here, Mr. Choi, Korean officer responsible for drafting the summary record, read the text of the summary record of the fifth plenary session. Mr. Okuma, Japanese officer responsible for drafting the summary record, read the text of the summary record of the fifth plenary session.)
DR. SAWADA:
We confirmed the summary record which was initialed by the recording officers of both sides.
MR. LIMB:
Yes, it is confirmed.
DR. SAWADA:
Now, I take the liberty to propose that the following committees and sub-committees be established.
1. Committee on Basic Relations
2. Committee on Korean-Claims
a. Sub-Committee on Claims
b. Sub-Committee on Vessels
3. Committee on Fisheries and "Pease Line"
4. Committee on Legal Status of Korean Residents in Japan
MR. LIMB:
Your counter-proposal is acceptable.
DR. SAWADA:
Thank you very much. In connection with the names of committees, I wish to add that they will not bring alteration to the matters as agreed at the time of conclusion of the Japan-Korea Preliminary Talks on December 31, 1957.
MR. LIMB:
Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my hope that committee works be conducted smoothly and efficiently on the basis of the matters as agreed at the time of conclusion of the Korea-Japan Preliminary Talks on December 31, 1957.
