Item 1, The 6th session of the Sub-Committee on other claims regarding Korean art objects was held at 10:30 A.M. on November 1, 1958 at the Japanese Foreign Ministry. Next meeting will be held at 10:30 on November 8th.
Item 2. At this meeting our side repeated its strong request that Korean art objects be returned to Korea at the earliest possible date as our side had already presented to the Japanese side a first gist of Korean art objects to be returned to Korea. The Japanese side stated that it had transmitted the gist to the authorities concerned for study and research thereon, adding that the Japanese delegation was not in a position to give official commitment on the Korean request as the basic policy on the problem of Korean art objects. Our side again urged Japanese side to give a definite answer on our request with a view to making an early settlement of the matters regarding art objects, regarding that the Japanese side was smploying a measure which could not be construed as delaying tactics. Japanese side stated that, as far as Japanese side was concerned, settlement of the problem on art objects is related to the proceedings of other various committees works in the light of domestic politics. Our side reiterated that, in as much as the problem on Korean art objects had already been taken up at the Korea Japan preliminary talks and in view of special nature of this problem, our side could hardly recognize the propriety of the Japanese argument of connecting this problem with the proceedings of other committees
Item 3. The Japanese side said that it wished to settle it with sincerity, adding that it would be convenient for the Japanese to make decision on this matter, if all the gists were presented. The Japanese side continued that it was conducting research on Korean art objects in its own way.
