I received your several letters of May 10 and Political Report No.18 of the same date. Thank you for all of them.
General Lemnitzer and Mr. Robertson were here and our people gave them a thorough briefing. You will see from the enclosed copies what they talked about. Please return them by next pouch because we did not make enough copies and besides I think you should not have them in your files.
The Red Cross officials came and I had a talk with them. I explained our reluctance to see them because they did not visit the OMURA camp as we had expected. I made them promise to visit the camp on their way back. The enclosed copy of a report from the Home Ministry shows that they went to Pusan to see the Jap fishermen. In case you have a chance to see them again I wish you would stress to them the question of our ex-POWs.
I am very glad to have the information that the purpose of their trip was to prepare for the forthcoming convention of the International Red Cross which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi later this year. Several reasons were given for their coming but not the real point.
