TitleValet Carrying Sunshade 02
Figure on the eastern wall of the middle passage (Valet Carrying Sunshade 02)

This is a detailed view of the sunshade-carrying valet in the Depiction of the Noble Couple’s Outing on the eastern wall of the middle passage. This valet is responsible for protecting the mounted military attaché from the sun. The exact details in the face, hands, and lower legs cannot be verified due to severe deterioration. However, the remaining visible areas of the mural clearly show the Jeogori's (traditional Korean upper garment) neckline, sleeves, and bottom hemline treated with Seons (accents on garments mimicking the black feathers on a crane’s neck or wingtips, influenced by Siberian shamanism) of a different color. The bent handle of the black sunshade was designed to protect a person from the sun at a certain distance. Fortunately, at least a glimpse of the Koguryo people's ingenuity can be seen through the remains of the murals.
