Discovery Learning 5[Teacher Notes]

Dokdo is Korean territory. Territorial waters are set from Dokdo. For smooth coastlines, the normal baseline of the territorial sea is set along the low water lines[note 013] of the coast. For irregular coastlines with many islands, a straight baseline[note 014] is set by connecting fringing (outermost) islands along the coast. The territorial sea is defined at 12 nautical miles from the baseline. From these two standard methods, choose which method would be suitable for Dokdo and draw the baseline and the territorial sea boundaries on the map.[Answer]
