This map was compiled by Japanese mapmakers based on the world map made in France, with the Eastern and Western hemispheres in separate maps. In the upper part of the map there is an epilogue, and markings such as the equator, the Tropic of Capricorn, and the Tropic of Cancer appear in both hemispheric maps. The Eastern Hemisphere map is centered on Kyoto, but the shape of Joseon is not clear. The name of the sea to the east of the Korean Peninsula is marked as the "Sea of Joseon" and the sea on the Pacific Ocean side of Japan is identified as the "Great Sea of Japan."
