Title | Detailed View of the Government Official 02 | ||
---|---|---|---|
This is a detailed view of the government official on the southern wall of the antechamber in Tokhung-ri Tomb. The central figure dressed in black and wearing a civil servant Chaek (headwear with top split in the back and curving forward) is determined to be a person of high status. He is kneeling on the wooden platform in a show of respect and personally presenting a gift to Jin. Valets, depicted to be smaller in scale, can be seen standing politely nearby. This example provides a glimpse of the painting concepts of ancient artists that treated persons of different social standings with variations in scale.
