This is the gatekeeper depicted on the northern section of the eastern wall in the western auxiliary chamber. This figure can be seen wearing a black military attaché Chaek (headwear with a cone-shaped point), a short Jeogori (traditional Korean upper garment) traditionally worn by Koguryo men, and long trousers. The neckline, sleeves, and trimmings of his Jeogori feature Seons (accents on garments mimicking the black feathers on a crane’s neck or wingtips, influenced by Siberian shamanism) made of a different type of fabric. His hands are folded together just above the navel, and a waistband can be seen just underneath the hands. The folds in the fabric have been expressed through the thick red lines of his Jeogori. This gatekeeper’s thick, crescent eyebrows, long, thin eyes, and sleek mustache are the same facial characteristics found on the Royal Guards depicted on the western antechamber wall.
