This is a detailed view of the column depicted on the northern wall of the main chamber in Tokhung-ri Tomb. The main chamber in Tokhung-ri Tomb features joist-supporting columns in each of the four corners to mimic the atmosphere of a real house. This is reflective of how the spiritual world was perceived during the Koguryo era, as people of the time believed that although the body may die, the soul would live forever. This belief leads to the practice of constructing tombs to resemble houses.
The columns seen in the images feature cloud-pattern decorations in black ink lines, implying that the tomb belongs to the world of the afterlife.
