This is a detailed view of the acrobatic troupe depicted on the western wall of the main chamber in Susahn-ri Tomb. Acrobatics developed early in Koguryo along with music and dance. Generally, acrobats are depicted together with processions in Koguryo murals. The scene in the image depicts an acrobatic troupe performing according to the merry tune of the ceremonial band. These performances usually included stiltwalking, throwing wheels, and juggling balls, wheels, rods, and swords. Sword-throwing is regarded to be a reflection of the martialistic mentality of the Koguryo people.
Three performers are depicted in Susahn-ri Tomb. One acrobat is walking on stilts, another is juggling a wheel, and the last performer is juggling balls and rods.
