Title | Lotus Pattern | ||
---|---|---|---|
This is a detailed view of the lotus pattern on the southern wall of the main chamber in Tokhung-ri Tomb. The lotus is a symbol of purification and rebirth in Buddhism. The lotus is a highly-cherished flower in Buddhism and is used to decorate the pedestal on which Buddha is seated.
A blooming lotus can be seen atop a wavy stalk flanked by lotus buds. The flower was rendered in red without any outlines.
The lotus is depicted all throughout Tokhung-ri Tomb in the antechamber, main chamber, and ceiling. As Youzhou Provincial Governor Jin was a disciple of Buddhism, his earnest desire to reach the Buddhist Land of Bliss is apparent in these images.
