This is an enlarged view of a soldier's shield. The red outline of the black shield is still vivid. Unlike the wooden shields with pointed tops and bottoms generally used by the Koguryo infantry, this shield is oval with a divot at the center. These two types of shields can be seen in greater detail in the procession scene depicted on the eastern gallery wall.
