Southern Wall of the Antechamber (Eastern Section) - Detailed View of the Axmen
zoom

This is a detailed view of the axmen depicted on the eastern section of the southern antechamber wall. These figures are wearing black and white official hats with pointed tops referred to as military attaché Chaeks. The folds in the fabric of the Jeogoris (traditional Korean upper garment) are accentuated with thick red lines. The same effect can be seen in the white trousers but with thin black lines. These subtle artistic differences enhance the overall image of the figures. Although the facial features of the figures are all relatively similar, the artist clearly made an effort to distinguish each civil servant by utilizing varying head shapes. Despite the seemingly simple rendering techniques, these figures do not suffer by comparison to any other works of art in the tomb.
