Eastern Wall of the Eastern Auxiliary Chamber - Meat Storehouse - Bird
zoom

This is a detailed view of the bird on top of the meat storehouse on the eastern wall of the eastern auxiliary chamber. Although the image is faint, traces of the bird's white feathers and red legs can still be seen. The head of the bird is significantly larger than its body, and the two faint, red circles are presumed to be the bird's eyes. This type of bird motif also appeared frequently in Han style stone tombs (a type of tomb construction prominently featuring either reliefs or sunken-reliefs prevalent in China during the Han Dynasty) as a symbol of freely flying in the heavens of the afterlife.
