This is a detailed view of the drummers on the eastern gallery wall in Anak Tomb No. 3. This unique drum is held by multiple people while being played by another. This type of drum is known as a carrying-drum. The image depicts two people carrying the drum and frame on their shoulders while the drummer beats on the drum with a black percussion mallet. Four legs can be seen attached to the bottom of the drum to be used as a stand. Notably, the carrying-drum was fitted with a canopy to protect the leather from sun damage. Red tassels enhance the decorative design.
The figure carrying the bell is wearing a Geon (a type of ancient headwear that wraps around the entire head and tied in the back, similar to a bandanna) on his head. Although Geons were primarily worn by valets or the lower-class during the Koguryo era, they were also used by nobility for hunting or other outdoor activities. The figure is also wearing a Jeogori (traditional Korean upper garment) with a waistband. The trousers are securely tied with a strap around their calves.
